BOSTON — Elucid has raised $55 million in an oversubscribed Series D financing round to accelerate commercialization of its AI-powered cardiovascular imaging platform and expand partnerships with medical technology companies.
The financing brings the company’s total funding to approximately $185 million. Elucid said the round included a new investment from a large publicly traded medtech company, which became its fourth publicly traded strategic investor.
Other new and existing investors included IAG Capital Partners and Elevage Medical Technologies, a platform created by Patient Square Capital.
Elucid plans to use the proceeds to expand commercialization of its cardiovascular imaging platform, including its Plaque-IQ software and BioIntegrated FFR-CT product, which is currently under FDA review through the 510(k) process.
The company also plans to continue investing in artificial intelligence research and clinical studies.
Elucid’s Plaque-IQ software has received FDA clearance and is designed to noninvasively quantify plaque composition in coronary and carotid arteries using CT angiography. The company said the technology can identify and measure higher-risk plaque types and has been validated against histopathology.
Its BioIntegrated FFR-CT product is being developed to assess coronary physiology noninvasively and is intended to complement Plaque-IQ within a broader clinical decision-support platform.
By analyzing plaque biology, vessel anatomy and blood-flow physiology from routine CT angiography, Elucid said its technology is designed to help clinicians identify patients at higher cardiovascular risk and personalize treatment strategies.
“Analogous to oncology’s shift from population-based, one-size treatment, Elucid is applying AI to integrate anatomy, biology, and physiology to bring personalized treatment to coronary artery disease management,” said Kelly Huang, Ph.D., CEO of Elucid. “Physician feedback indicating that our current platform can uniquely lead to better care decisions fuels our mission to predict and personalize the prevention of heart attacks and strokes.”
