EMERYVILLE, CA– Eureka Therapeutics has appointed Jennifer F. Tseng, M.D., MPH, a surgical oncologist and former Chair of Surgery at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, to its Scientific Advisory Board as the biotechnology company advances its CAR-T cell therapies for solid tumors.

Tseng will advise Eureka on the clinical development of its ARTEMIS CAR-T programs, focusing on treatment indication strategies and clinical trial design.

A clinical-stage biotechnology company, Eureka Therapeutics is developing T-cell therapies intended to address challenges associated with treating solid tumors, an area where CAR-T therapies have faced significant clinical development obstacles.

Tseng brings extensive experience in surgical oncology, cancer outcomes research, academic medicine, and healthcare leadership.

She currently serves as the inaugural Executive Director, Chief Scientific Officer, and Trustee of the Ben and Rose Cole Charitable PRIA Foundation, an organization focused on advancing pancreatic cancer treatment and research.

Previously, Tseng served as the James Utley Professor and Chair of Surgery at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and Surgeon-in-Chief at Boston Medical Center.

Before joining Boston University, she was Chief of Surgical Oncology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

During her tenure at Beth Israel Deaconess, Tseng became the first woman at the institution to attain the rank of Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School.

Her academic research has focused on surgical outcomes in cancer patients, with particular attention to improving treatment strategies and clinical decision-making.

Tseng has also held leadership positions in several national surgical organizations.

She is a past President of the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract and the Society of Asian Academic Surgeons. She previously served as a Director and Councilor of the American Board of Surgery.

“Eureka’s work on novel T-cell therapies has the potential to address a long-standing challenge in treating solid tumors,” said Dr. Tseng. “I look forward to joining the team and offering a clinical perspective to help advance new treatment options for patients worldwide.”

Eureka’s ARTEMIS platform is being developed to expand the potential applications of CAR-T cell therapy in solid tumor oncology.

The company is seeking to develop therapies that improve the safety and effectiveness of engineered T-cell treatments, which have demonstrated clinical success in certain blood cancers but have encountered greater challenges in solid tumors.

Tseng’s appointment is expected to provide additional clinical expertise as Eureka evaluates potential treatment indications and designs future studies.

“Dr. Tseng brings extensive experience in cancer care and outcomes research,” said Cheng Liu, Ph.D., Founder and CEO of Eureka Therapeutics. “Her clinical insights will help guide the development of our ARTEMIS® T-cell therapies for solid tumors.”
