MARLBOROUGH, Mass.–SCIEX, a Danaher company specializing in life sciences analytical technologies, has launched a new software solution designed to accelerate drug candidate evaluation by automating compound analysis and laboratory workflows used in pharmaceutical research.

The software, called LeadScape, is compatible with SCIEX OS and was developed by Sound Analytics. It is designed to help pharmaceutical companies and contract research organizations (CROs) analyze large numbers of experimental compounds while reducing the time spent on manual data processing and laboratory method development.

The platform focuses on high-throughput absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion (ADME) studies, which are used during drug discovery to evaluate how potential medications behave in the body.

These studies help researchers determine whether experimental compounds have characteristics suitable for further development, including how they are absorbed, distributed, metabolized and eliminated.

LeadScape automates several stages of the analytical process, including compound optimization, method creation, sample batch preparation, data collection and analysis.

By reducing manual tasks, the software is intended to help laboratories evaluate drug candidates more efficiently and generate consistent results across multiple research projects.

“In drug discovery, the competitive advantage isn’t simply generating more data; it’s turning data into decisions faster,” said Jose Castro-Perez, Ph.D., Vice President of Product Management at SCIEX. “LeadScape compatible with SCIEX OS software helps eliminate workflow bottlenecks that can slow compound evaluation, so scientists can move promising candidates forward with greater speed, consistency, and confidence while leveraging a modern software environment.”

The new release, LeadScape version 4.0, builds on the capabilities of DiscoveryQuant, an established software platform used for automated compound optimization and analysis.

According to SCIEX, the updated software can help researchers accelerate assay development and compound characterization through automated liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) workflows.

The technology also supports higher sample volumes by simplifying the creation of analytical methods and batches, coordinating data acquisition and streamlining the review of experimental results.

For laboratories operating across multiple teams or locations, the software is designed to standardize procedures and reporting, potentially improving consistency and reproducibility.

“LeadScape was developed to make high-throughput compound analysis more automated and more actionable,” said Wayne Lootsma, President at Sound Analytics. “Bringing these capabilities to SCIEX OS software gives laboratories a path to modernize established workflows.”

LeadScape supports SCIEX Triple Quad and QTRAP liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry systems operating with SCIEX OS software, including the Echo MS+ platform paired with the SCIEX Triple Quad 6500+ system.

The software also maintains compatibility with existing DiscoveryQuant databases, allowing laboratories to retain previously collected compound optimization data and established analytical methods while transitioning to the newer platform.

This compatibility could help pharmaceutical research laboratories adopt the updated software without rebuilding their analytical databases or abandoning existing workflows.

SCIEX develops analytical instruments, software and related technologies used in pharmaceutical research, biotechnology and other life sciences applications.

The company has operated in the analytical instrumentation industry for more than five decades and became known for its development of commercially successful triple quadrupole mass spectrometry technology in 1981.

As part of Danaher, SCIEX supplies technologies used by researchers to identify, measure and characterize chemical compounds and biological substances.

The LeadScape launch expands the company’s software portfolio as pharmaceutical laboratories increasingly seek automation tools to manage growing volumes of analytical data and accelerate early-stage drug development.
