BOSTON — Greater Boston Urology, an affiliate of U.S. Urology Partners, announced that Michelle R. Shabo, MD, has joined its medical team, expanding access to general urologic care across the Greater Boston area.

Shabo specializes in general urology, including kidney stone disease, urologic cancers, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), advanced endoscopy and minimally invasive robotic surgery.

A Massachusetts native, Shabo joins the practice after completing her urology residency through the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School training program. She earned her medical degree from UMass Chan Medical School and holds an undergraduate degree in biochemistry and molecular biology.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Michelle Shabo to Greater Boston Urology. She brings outstanding clinical training, extensive expertise in general urology and a commitment to delivering personalized, patient-centered care,” said Jonathan S. Brajtbord, MD, chair of the Physician Clinical Council at Greater Boston Urology.

“Combined with her advanced surgical training and dedication to quality improvement, Dr. Shabo is an excellent fit for our practice and the communities we serve,” Brajtbord added.

Shabo said returning to serve patients in her home state is an important milestone in her medical career.

“As a Massachusetts native, I am excited to join the talented care team at Greater Boston Urology and help expand access to high-quality urologic care close to where patients live,” Shabo said. “I provide comprehensive general urology care, with expertise in advanced endoscopy, stone disease, urologic cancers, robotic surgery and the full spectrum of BPH treatments.”

Shabo also emphasized her commitment to individualized treatment and shared decision-making.

“Remaining in Massachusetts to care for patients in the community where I grew up is especially meaningful to me,” she said. “My approach to patient care is centered on shared decision-making, and I work closely with each patient to develop a treatment plan that reflects their goals, lifestyle and family or relationship needs.”

In addition to her clinical work, Shabo has participated in healthcare quality improvement initiatives and holds a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification, with a focus on improving efficiency, care quality and patient experiences.

Greater Boston Urology operates 10 urology care centers and two interventional radiology centers across the region. The practice is affiliated with U.S. Urology Partners, a national organization supporting community-based urology practices that is backed by investment firm General Atlantic.
