BOSTON — Boston Children’s Hospital has received a $10 million grant from Bank of America to establish a new pediatric behavioral health campus in Brighton, expanding access to mental health and rehabilitation services for children and adolescents.

The new facility will be developed on the campus of Franciscan Children’s, which joined the Boston Children’s Hospital health system in 2023. It will integrate inpatient, outpatient and rehabilitation services while increasing the hospital’s capacity to treat children with behavioral health needs.

The campus will feature single-patient rooms, specialized programs for children with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities, and family-centered treatment spaces. It will also introduce pediatric and adolescent partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs.

“Bank of America’s leadership gift helps turn vision into reality,” said Kevin B. Churchwell, M.D., CEO of Boston Children’s Hospital. “Their generosity will help us build a dedicated space where children and families can find expertise, empathy, and hope — and where we can continue advancing research, training the next generation of specialists, and strengthening community partnerships.”

Hospital officials expect the expansion to help reduce wait times, improve early intervention and provide more comprehensive care for children with complex behavioral health conditions.

The project is expected to create between 150 and 200 permanent jobs and approximately 3,320 construction jobs.

“This new campus has the potential to change the trajectory of care for children and families across Greater Boston,” said Holly O’Neill, President of Consumer, Retail and Preferred at Bank of America. “Our partnership with Boston Children’s reflects a shared commitment to giving more families access to the right support at the right time.”

Beyond clinical services, the new campus will support behavioral health research, workforce development and partnerships with schools and community organizations.

To mark the donation, Bank of America employees and executives volunteered at Franciscan Children’s, participating in recreational and educational activities with patients receiving rehabilitation and behavioral health care.

Bank of America has contributed more than $53 million to Greater Boston community initiatives since 2021, while its employees have completed more than 216,000 volunteer hours during that period.
