Stellaromics Expands Pyxa Installations Across U.S. and Europe

Boston — Stellaromics has announced the first commercial placements of its Pyxa® 3D spatial multi-omics platform at research institutions in the United States and Europe.

The systems are being installed at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, CNAG in Barcelona, Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm and Stanford University in California.

Pyxa is designed to analyze hundreds of molecular targets simultaneously in intact tissue sections up to 100 micrometers thick, allowing researchers to examine tissue architecture, cell-to-cell interactions and molecular gradients in three dimensions.

The commercial placements follow the platform’s launch at the Advances in Genome Biology and Technology meeting in February 2026 and mark Stellaromics’ transition from early access to broader commercial availability.

“These laboratories represent exactly the kind of science Pyxa was built for,” said Todd Dickinson, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer of Stellaromics. “Each of these groups has spent years extending the limits of what can be resolved in tissue, and each has recognized the need to push past the challenges of flat 2D tissue analysis.”

At Mount Sinai, researchers plan to use the system to study cellular niches associated with disease and normal function by integrating spatial data with transcriptomic, chromatin accessibility, proteomic and epigenetic information.

At CNAG, researchers will use Pyxa to study tissue organization and spatially regulated gene expression in areas including cancer, chronic inflammation, infection and autoimmune disease. The platform will also support efforts to build more comprehensive cellular reference atlases.

Karolinska Institutet researchers plan to apply the platform to developmental neurogenomics, combining 3D spatial transcriptomics with cellular barcoding to study brain development, neural circuits and neurodevelopmental disorders.

At Stanford University, the technology will support research led by Karl Deisseroth, M.D., Ph.D., whose laboratory developed optogenetics and tissue-clearing technologies including CLARITY and STARmap™, which underlie aspects of the Pyxa platform.

“Commercial placements at institutions of this caliber, along with our Beta sites, validate both the technology and our ability to support it globally,” said Veronica Mankinen, Senior Vice President of Global Commercial Operations at Stellaromics.

Stellaromics said Pyxa systems are already operating at additional research sites in the U.S. and U.K. through its beta program. The company plans to continue expanding availability across North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region through 2026.
