Boston — Nix Biosensors has raised $10 million in Series A funding to expand its hydration monitoring technology and develop new data-driven health products.
The round brings the company’s total funding to $17 million. Investors include Shorewind Capital, Great Oaks Venture Capital, White Road Investments, Anne Wojcicki, Len Blavatnik and owners of several professional sports teams.
Nix develops real-time sweat-sensing technology used across sports, military, labor and consumer markets. The company said its platform measures individual fluid and electrolyte loss across different activities and environmental conditions.
The new funding will support product development, data science and market expansion, with a major focus on Nix Health, an algorithm-based hydration intelligence platform built using data collected through its sweat-monitoring technology.
Nix plans to license Nix Health to existing consumer health platforms, allowing hydration guidance to be incorporated without requiring users to wear a Nix sweat sensor.
“Emerging research is drawing a direct line between hydration and longevity, cognitive health, and disease prevention,” said Meridith Cass, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Nix Biosensors. “The science points to hydration as a health metric on par with sleep with respect to its far-reaching health impact. Unlike sleep, however, hydration is immediately actionable. This funding allows us to bring that intelligence to a much larger audience through Nix Health.”
The company also plans to explore additional biomarkers that can potentially be detected through sweat, including lactate, cortisol, glucose, Vitamin D, testosterone and estrogen.

Nix said it plans to use its growing dataset and software platform to expand personalized hydration tools across consumer health and performance applications.
