Marlborough, Mass. — Scitara announced a new strategic direction focused on laboratory intelligence and artificial intelligence applications, along with the appointment of Mike Tarselli, Ph.D., MBA, as Chief Strategy Officer.

The company said the move marks its evolution from a laboratory connectivity provider into a multi-vendor lab intelligence company serving the life sciences and biopharmaceutical industries.

Scitara said its DLX platform is used by 10 of the world’s top 25 biopharmaceutical companies across research and development, manufacturing and quality control. The company plans to build on its existing connectivity capabilities by developing AI applications and agentic systems designed for laboratory workflows.

Scitara said it will continue working with strategic partners on laboratory informatics systems and data infrastructure while expanding into AI model-ready manufacturing and quality control data and autonomous laboratory applications.

“As Scitara continues to grow, we have an incredible opportunity to expand our impact beyond being recognized as the industry’s leading lab integration platform,” said Ajit Nagral, Chairman and CEO of Scitara. “While IT organizations have been instrumental to our success to date, our future growth depends on becoming a strategic partner to business leaders in R&D and Quality Control who are driving digital transformation and AI initiatives within their organizations. Mike will play a leading role in helping us make that transition.”

Tarselli has more than 25 years of experience in pharmaceutical research and development, scientific leadership, cloud technologies, artificial intelligence and life sciences software.

His previous roles include positions at Novartis, Millennium Pharmaceuticals, ARIAD Pharmaceuticals, Biomedisyn, SLAS and PharmAgra. He later held an executive leadership role at TetraScience and most recently worked as a Healthcare & Life Sciences AI leader at Amazon Web Services.

Tarselli earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, completed postdoctoral research at Scripps Research and holds an Executive MBA from Quantic School of Business and Technology.

As Chief Strategy Officer, he will help shape Scitara’s long-term growth strategy, partnerships and product roadmap while working with customers on the use of the company’s connectivity, AI and agentic technologies.

“I’m excited to join the company to help power this scientific and strategic pivot,” Tarselli said. “We have a rare opportunity to improve the lives of technicians, analysts, and late-stage leaders through sensible application of AI through review by exception, agentic workflows, and surfacing data to modeling activities.”

Tarselli will discuss the company’s expanded strategy with customers and partners at Scitara Connect, the company’s annual customer event in Amsterdam.
