TAUNTON, Mass. — Copia Scientific announced a distribution agreement with Swiss laboratory instrumentation company HSE•AG to expand access to automated nucleic acid quantification technologies in the United States and Canada.
Under the agreement, Copia Scientific will serve as an authorized distributor of HSE•AG’s eviFluor Duo Fluorometer, eviDense UV Photometer and related accessories and consumables.
The partnership expands Copia Scientific’s PlateCentric laboratory automation portfolio with on-deck measurement technologies designed to integrate nucleic acid quantification directly into automated liquid handling workflows.
“By bringing HSE•AG’s measurement technology together with our automation and integration capabilities, we can help laboratories reduce manual intervention and build more connected, efficient workflows from sample preparation through quality control,” said Dyan Reagan, Chief Operating Officer of Copia Scientific.
The eviDense UV Photometer integrates UV absorbance measurements into liquid handling workflows, enabling automated DNA and RNA concentration and purity measurements, including A260/A280 and A260/A230 ratios.
Its micro-cuvette technology is designed to support rapid, non-destructive measurements while allowing samples to be recovered after testing.
The eviFluor Duo Fluorometer provides fluorescence-based double-stranded DNA quantification directly on the automation deck. According to HSE•AG, the system is suited for automated next-generation sequencing library quality control and has demonstrated strong agreement with benchtop reference fluorometers.
Together, the systems are intended to reduce the need for manual pipetting, separate benchtop instruments and manual data transfers during laboratory quality-control processes.
Copia Scientific said it can integrate HSE•AG products into laboratory automation workflows using Opentrons liquid handlers, NAYO A8 mini systems, compatible third-party automation platforms, laboratory software and custom automation solutions.
For next-generation sequencing workflows, the technologies can support nucleic acid quantification at multiple stages of sample preparation. UV absorbance can be used for DNA concentration and purity assessment following extraction, while fluorescence-based measurement can support more sensitive library quality control.
“Copia Scientific and HSE•AG bring complementary strengths to this partnership: HSE•AG’s precision in nucleic acid quantification and Copia Scientific’s proven capabilities in automation, integration, and customer support. Together, we’re enabling North American labs to integrate accurate, on-deck measurement directly into their existing workflows,” said Konstantin Lutze, Chief Technology Officer of HSE•AG.
Copia Scientific will also provide installation, application assistance, preventative maintenance, warranty coordination and first-line technical support for HSE•AG products sold through the company.
The agreement designates Copia Scientific as the preferred service provider for HSE•AG products it distributes in the United States and Canada.
