DUBLIN — Alkermes plc (Nasdaq: ALKS) announced plans to present new clinical data on its investigational drug alixorexton and its approved sleep disorder treatment LUMRYZ at Sleep Europe 2026, scheduled for October 20-23 in Maastricht, the Netherlands.
The company will deliver two oral presentations and six posters at the European Sleep Research Society’s 28th Congress, highlighting research into treatments for narcolepsy type 1, narcolepsy type 2 and idiopathic hypersomnia, neurological conditions associated with excessive daytime sleepiness.
Alkermes will present findings from its phase 2 Vibrance-1 study of alixorexton in adults with narcolepsy type 1, recently published in The Lancet Neurology. Alixorexton is an investigational oral orexin 2 receptor agonist being developed to treat narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia.
The presentation will also include data from an ongoing long-term extension study examining the drug’s safety and durability of effect in patients with narcolepsy type 1 and type 2 who received treatment for up to nine months.
“I am pleased to present results from the Vibrance-1 phase 2 study and long-term extension evaluating alixorexton in patients with narcolepsy type 1 and type 2 at Sleep Europe,” said Giuseppe Plazzi, M.D., Ph.D., Director of the Narcolepsy Center at the IRCCS of the Neurological Sciences of Bologna and Professor of Childhood Neuropsychiatry at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
“Together, these results further characterize the potential of alixorexton in narcolepsy and provide evidence supporting sustained clinical benefit with longer-term treatment,” Plazzi added.
In a separate presentation, Alkermes will share detailed results from its phase 3 REVITALYZ study evaluating LUMRYZ (sodium oxybate) extended-release oral suspension in adults with idiopathic hypersomnia.
The company previously reported positive topline results from the study. LUMRYZ became part of Alkermes’ sleep medicine portfolio following its acquisition of Avadel Pharmaceuticals.
Richard Bogan, M.D., Principal of Bogan Sleep Consultants and Associate Clinical Professor at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, will present the REVITALYZ findings.
“I am honored to present results from the REVITALYZ phase 3 trial evaluating LUMRYZ in adults with idiopathic hypersomnia, a chronic neurological disorder for which there are limited treatment options,” Bogan said.
Additional poster presentations will feature interim results from alixorexton’s long-term extension study, exploratory findings on cognition and fatigue from the phase 2 Vibrance-2 trial, and the design of the company’s phase 3 Brilliance clinical trial program.
Alkermes will also present findings from REFRESH, a multicenter real-world study examining LUMRYZ treatment in adults with narcolepsy, including patients switching from twice-nightly oxybate therapies.
“The breadth of data being presented by Alkermes at Sleep Europe 2026 reflects both the strength of our research programs and our leadership in the field of sleep medicine,” said Craig Hopkinson, M.D., Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice President of Research and Development at Alkermes.
Hopkinson said the company remains focused on developing differentiated treatments for people living with narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia.
Alixorexton remains investigational, while the use of LUMRYZ for idiopathic hypersomnia is being evaluated in clinical trials.
