Boston — AcuityMD announced the addition of prescription data to AcuityAI, combining prescription and procedure information in a single workflow for medical technology commercial teams.

The company said the new capability allows sales representatives to identify and prioritize healthcare professionals treating patients with branded or generic prescription therapies that may align with medical device opportunities.

AcuityMD said procedure data alone may not show the full range of potential patients for a medical device. Healthcare professionals may be treating patients with medications associated with a device opportunity without yet performing the corresponding procedure.

By integrating prescription data with procedure and diagnosis information, AcuityAI is designed to give commercial teams a broader view of prescribing patterns and potential device opportunities.

“We incorporated prescription data into AcuityAI in response to customers’ frustrations with existing prescription data solutions and the inability to reliably find the HCPs treating device-eligible patients,” said Brian Collins, Chief Product Officer at AcuityMD.

Collins said sales representatives can use the platform to ask questions and analyze prescription data alongside procedure and diagnosis information to prioritize healthcare professionals.

Teleflex’s Interventional Urology business unit has been using the data to identify physicians treating patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia medications who may be candidates for the company’s UroLift System.

“One of our biggest opportunities is identifying the physicians who prescribe the most benign prostatic hyperplasia medications and demonstrating how our device, the UroLift System, offers an alternative treatment option for patients seeking symptom relief,” said Jim Brezicki, Manager of Sales Operations & Market Intelligence at Teleflex.

Echosens is also using AcuityAI prescription data to compare prescribing trends with use of its FibroScan technology.

“Before AcuityMD, we had to look up prescription data provider by provider, which was incredibly time-consuming,” said Amy Conner, Director of Market Access and Health Economics and Outcomes Research at Echosens.

Conner said combining prescription and device utilization data in one platform has made it easier for the company to identify commercial opportunities.
