Lynn, Mass. — Element Care has appointed Chris McGhee, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Current Health, to its Board of Directors.
McGhee brings experience in digital health strategy, home-based care, healthcare technology and the expansion of complex care delivery models. Element Care said his expertise will support its efforts to improve access to coordinated care for older adults, reduce hospitalizations and help seniors remain in their homes.
“We’re proud to welcome Chris to our Board of Directors where his technological expertise in home healthcare and his proven philosophy on leveraging technology to improve care outcomes will be invaluable to Element Care,” said Doug Thompson, Chief Executive Officer at Element Care. “Chris’s guidance will help us strategically integrate innovative technology into our care model, both at our centers and in the homes of our participants, and strengthen our ability to deliver high-quality, coordinated care across Massachusetts.”
McGhee founded Current Health, a provider of technology and clinical services for acute and complex care in the home. The company has supported care for more than 70,000 patients and worked with health systems including HCA Healthcare, Mass General Brigham and Advocate Health.
Current Health developed FDA-cleared monitoring devices and software for hospital-at-home programs and later expanded into specialty pharmacy delivery. Best Buy acquired the company for $400 million in November 2021, and McGhee reacquired it in June 2025.
McGhee studied Medicine at the University of Dundee and holds a degree in Computer Science from the University of Strathclyde. He also serves as an independent board director for health technology and clinical outcomes initiatives.
During his career, McGhee has raised more than $70 million in venture capital and worked on mergers and acquisitions, product development, commercial growth and healthcare systems strategy.
“I started Current Health because of my own grandmother. She couldn’t get care in the home when she needed it. Element Care’s mission to help older adults thrive in their homes and communities aligns perfectly with my belief that technology and innovation can fundamentally transform how we deliver care at scale. I’d have wanted my grandmother to get care at Element Care,” McGhee said. “I’m excited to join the board and help Element Care continue building the infrastructure and technological expertise needed to serve all seniors, regardless of their circumstances, with the high-quality, coordinated care they deserve.”
Element Care operates a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, or PACE, serving older adults in Massachusetts. The organization currently serves more than 1,200 PACE participants and 1,850 Senior Care Options members across Essex County, the Merrimack Valley and parts of Greater Boston.
PACE is a federally funded healthcare program that provides preventive, primary, acute and long-term care services.
