Boston — Syremis Therapeutics has appointed Aaron Koenig, M.D., as Chief Medical Officer as the clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company advances its pipeline for mental health disorders.
Koenig is a psychiatrist and drug-development executive with experience in neuropsychiatric disorders and neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Before joining Syremis, Koenig served as Chief Medical Officer at Syndeio Biosciences and Delix Therapeutics, where he oversaw the development of neuropsychiatric drug candidates. He also held leadership roles at Sage Therapeutics, where he led several neuropsychiatry programs, including candidates for cognitive impairment associated with neurodegenerative disease.
Earlier in his career, Koenig was a clinical investigator at the Massachusetts Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and a practicing clinician at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is board-certified in psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry. He earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed post-doctoral training at the Harvard School of Public Health.
