NASHVILLE, Tenn. — RxUtility has launched the beta version of Mimi, an AI companion designed to help consumers compare prescription drug prices and identify lower-cost medication options based on their insurance coverage, location and budget.

The company said Mimi is free to use during the beta period and is intended to guide users through a conversational experience that compares available prescription cost options across pharmacies, insurance estimates, manufacturer copay coupons and cash discounts.

RxUtility, a medication affordability platform, said Mimi asks users for basic information such as medication name, dosage and insurance coverage. The AI tool then compares pricing across nearby pharmacies and other savings options to help consumers understand the lowest-cost route available for their specific situation.

“There has been progress in lowering prices for some drugs, but consumers are more confused than ever on what is actually the lowest cost option for them,” said Miriam Paramore, CEO of RxUtility. “Mimi walks each person through every price and discount option—literally every price at every pharmacy. That means no more guesswork and no more abandoned prescriptions because a consumer didn’t know a better price existed.”

The company said Mimi is trained on prescription drug reference data and available pricing for prescription medications across U.S. pharmacies. RxUtility said the tool is built as infrastructure that can be embedded into provider, pharmacy, employer, payer and digital health platforms, rather than functioning only as a standalone savings app.

RxUtility said the product comes as medication affordability remains a major barrier for patients. The company cited data showing nearly 98 million prescriptions are abandoned each year because of cost surprises. It also cited a KFF study finding that 43% of adults reported not taking medication as prescribed at some point in the past year because of pricing transparency issues, while six in 10 Americans are worried about medication costs.

“Mimi walks each person through every price and discount option,” said Paramore. “That means no more guesswork and no more abandoned prescriptions because a consumer didn’t know a better price existed.”

Mimi’s features include a generative AI interface, specialized affordability datasets, integration options for healthcare organizations and white-label deployment. RxUtility said the platform can be deployed through API or model context protocol connections and can operate as a standalone tool or within existing workflow environments.

“When people understand their price options upfront, they’re more confident, more likely to start therapy, and more likely to stick with the medications they need for their health,” Paramore said. “That kind of transparency has never been available, and now organizations can deploy it effortlessly. Everyone wins.”
