BOSTON — Vertex Pharmaceuticals announced the appointment of Daniel Brennan, former executive vice president and chief financial officer of Boston Scientific Corporation, to its board of directors as an independent director.
Brennan brings more than 35 years of financial leadership experience in the healthcare industry, including more than 25 years at Boston Scientific, where he oversaw global finance operations and corporate business development.
He retired last year from his position as executive vice president and chief financial officer at Boston Scientific, a medical device and healthcare technology company.
“Dan’s extensive financial leadership experience and deep understanding of global healthcare businesses will bring an important perspective to the Vertex Board,” said Jeffrey Leiden, M.D., Ph.D., executive chairman of Vertex. “His experience navigating periods of high growth and strategic expansion will be especially valuable as Vertex continues to expand, diversify and invest in innovation so we can make a meaningful impact for many more patients.”
Brennan currently serves on the boards of directors of Waters Corporation and Madrigal Pharmaceuticals. He also chairs the audit committee at Madrigal Pharmaceuticals.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and investments and an MBA from Babson College and is a certified public accountant.

Vertex said Brennan’s appointment comes as the company continues to expand its business, diversify its portfolio and invest in the development of innovative medicines.
With Brennan’s appointment, the company increased the size of its board of directors from 10 to 11 members.
