BOSTON — AcuityMD, a provider of artificial intelligence software for the medical technology industry, has introduced a new research agent within its AcuityAI platform designed to reduce the time required for market analysis from weeks or months to minutes.
The new tool provides medical technology companies with detailed insights into market share, product pricing, competitive positioning and patient treatment pathways. It also helps companies estimate total addressable market size to support business planning, investment decisions and potential acquisitions.
According to AcuityMD, traditional market research in the medical technology sector often requires combining information from insurance claims, clinical studies, industry reports and internal company databases, making the process time-consuming and resource-intensive.
The new AI-powered research agent automates much of that analysis using AcuityMD’s proprietary medical technology data framework, which connects information about physicians, healthcare facilities, medical procedures, provider networks and reimbursement.
The system conducts multi-step analyses tailored to individual companies and provides citations supporting its findings. Analyses can also be repeated as new information becomes available.
“MedTech teams now have a faster path from a market question to a decision, directly within AcuityAI,” said Brian Collins, Chief Product Officer at AcuityMD.
“Our research agent brings together deep MedTech context and real-world industry data and activity, not directional estimates from syndicated reports, general-purpose datasets, or vague, forward-looking opinion surveys. Research that used to take weeks or even months can now be completed in minutes,” Collins added.
The platform is designed to help medical technology executives evaluate competitive market share, compare product pricing and identify opportunities for new products or treatment indications.
It can also analyze patient care pathways to help companies understand how patients move through the healthcare system and assess potential acquisition targets using market data.
Chris Murray, Principal at MVM Partners, an investment firm focused on healthcare sectors including medical technology, pharmaceuticals and diagnostics, said AcuityAI has supported the firm’s investment evaluation process.
“AcuityAI brings objective data into our diligence process, proving particularly valuable in our understanding of markets and how they’re evolving over time,” Murray said.
AcuityMD said the research agent is available for activation by select users of its AcuityAI platform.
The launch expands the company’s use of artificial intelligence to support commercial strategy, market intelligence and corporate decision-making across the medical technology industry.
