Melbourne, Fla. — Sun Nuclear, a Mirion Medical company, has announced that its AdaptCHECK software has been validated for interoperability with Accela, the new radiotherapy system from Siemens Healthineers.
Accela, unveiled at the annual ASTRO conference, is a software-driven radiation therapy delivery system engineered for NeoArc, or Dynamic Modulated Arc Therapy, a treatment technique designed to accelerate radiation therapy planning, delivery and adaptation.
AdaptCHECK, built on the SunCHECK Patient workflow, is Sun Nuclear’s quality assurance software for adaptive radiation therapy. The software provides patient-specific dose verification, including secondary dose calculations, plan-of-the-day recalculations and log-file-based treatment monitoring.

Adaptive radiation therapy allows clinicians to adjust treatment plans based on anatomical changes that can occur during a course of radiation treatment, including tumor shrinkage, weight loss and organ movement. The approach is intended to improve treatment precision while limiting radiation exposure to healthy tissue.
Sun Nuclear said AdaptCHECK is designed to provide independent dose verification as more healthcare providers adopt adaptive radiation therapy workflows.
