Dublin, Ireland — Alkermes plc has appointed biopharmaceutical executive Anne C. Whitaker as an independent member of its Board of Directors.
Whitaker brings commercial and operational experience from senior leadership roles across pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, as well as experience serving on public and private company boards.

Richard Pops, Chairman of the Board of Alkermes, said Whitaker’s experience leading companies of different sizes and stages, along with her board service, would bring additional perspective to the company.

Whitaker most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of Aerami Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company. She previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Novoclem Therapeutics Inc. and Synta Pharmaceuticals Corporation and held senior commercial and executive positions at Bausch Health Companies Inc., Sanofi S.A. and GlaxoSmithKline.
She currently serves on the boards of publicly traded companies Basilea Pharmaceutica Ltd. and ICON plc, as well as private companies QurAlis LLC, Bespak Inc., Beaconcure Technologies and Trinity Partners LLC.
Whitaker previously served on the boards of Nykode Therapeutics, OraSure Technologies Inc., Ergomed plc and Faron Pharmaceuticals, among other life sciences companies.
She holds a B.S. in chemistry with a minor in business administration from the University of North Alabama.
