Thermo Fisher Completes $1.075 Billion Sale of Microbiology Business to Astorg

WALTHAM, Mass. — Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. has completed the sale of its microbiology business to pan-European private equity firm Astorg for approximately $1.075 billion.

The consideration consists of cash and a $50 million seller note, Thermo Fisher said.

The microbiology business provides antimicrobial susceptibility testing and culture media products used in clinical, pharmaceutical and food safety testing.

The unit generated $645 million in revenue in 2025 and was previously part of Thermo Fisher’s Specialty Diagnostics segment.
