Austin, Texas — Ouma Health has acquired a multisite maternal-fetal medicine practice led by Tamara Takoudes, M.D., expanding the company’s clinical network across Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire.
The acquisition adds established in-person clinical locations to Ouma’s national telemedicine network and strengthens its relationships with hospitals, imaging centers, birth centers and community obstetric practices in New England.
Ouma said the transaction is intended to expand access to maternal-fetal medicine care for patients with high-risk pregnancies by combining its national telemedicine services and physician network with existing regional practices.

Maternal-fetal medicine specialists provide care for patients experiencing high-risk pregnancies. Ouma said shortages of these specialists have limited access in many communities, particularly as hospitals close labor and delivery units and subspecialists become concentrated in major academic medical centers.
The company is working with physician groups, health systems and community practices to expand the infrastructure available for high-risk pregnancy care.

Ouma operates a nationwide maternal-fetal medicine physician group supported by telemedicine technology and in-person clinical practices.
The company said its model allows health systems, community obstetric practices and health plans to access specialist capacity without having to recruit their own maternal-fetal medicine physicians.
Ouma plans to continue expanding its network through internal growth and partnerships with physician-owned practices seeking additional resources while maintaining their local identities.
