BASEL, Switzerland — Ascensia Diabetes Care said it has launched CONTOUR COMFORT pen needles, expanding its CONTOUR portfolio with a product designed to improve stability, control and comfort during daily injections.
The company, a global diabetes care business and subsidiary of PHC Holdings Corp., said the pen needles are intended to support people using injectable diabetes therapies, as well as healthcare professionals involved in their care.
“With CONTOUR COMFORT pen needles, we are addressing a very practical and important part of diabetes management,” said Peter Bodlund, president and CEO of Ascensia Diabetes Care. “By focusing on usability, stability and consistency, we aim to support people in administering insulin more confidently in their daily routine, while building on the trusted performance associated with the CONTOUR brand.”
Ascensia said the CONTOUR COMFORT pen needles combine 5-bevel tip technology with an ergonomic design intended to improve comfort and stability during injections.
The company said a key feature is a hexagonal needle base with anti-tilt design, which is intended to disperse pressure across a larger surface area and reduce the risk of intramuscular injections. The design is meant to give users greater stability and depth control during insulin administration.
CONTOUR COMFORT pen needles are compatible with widely used pen injector devices, the company said.
The product will be available through pharmacies and approved healthcare distribution partners, starting in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on June 1, 2026. Ascensia said it plans to roll out the product in additional countries over the next two years.
