BOSTON — athenahealth announced a new partnership with rater8 to integrate AI-powered reputation management tools into its athenaOne platform, aiming to help healthcare providers manage their digital presence more efficiently within existing workflows.

The integration embeds rater8’s review management, listings, and patient feedback capabilities directly into athenaOne, allowing practices to request and respond to reviews, monitor sentiment, and maintain online listings without leaving the platform.

The move comes as generative AI increasingly shapes how patients search for and evaluate healthcare providers, with online reviews and accurate listings playing a growing role in patient acquisition and visibility.

“A practice’s online reputation is the first experience of the care it delivers — the way patient experience becomes visible, searchable, and trusted,” said Michael Palantoni, chief strategy and corporate development officer at athenahealth. “Partnerships like this extend athenaOne’s value by delivering capabilities that help practices stand out and grow in an increasingly AI-driven market.”

According to athenahealth, rater8’s healthcare-focused reputation management tools are already used by nearly 300 of its customers across more than 30 specialties. In one case study, Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics reported a 443 percent increase in patient reviews—92 percent of which were five-star—along with an 84 percent increase in Google listing views after one year of using the integrated solution.

“Our online reviews skyrocketed and have continued to grow over the years, enabling each of our listings to better reflect our world-renowned reputation,” said Irina Ollar, director of marketing and PR for Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics.

rater8 said its platform helps practices improve search visibility and patient trust by automating requests for feedback and enabling providers to capture timely, representative patient reviews. Across its customer base, 98 percent of posted reviews are four- or five-stars, with an average physician rating of 4.90. The company also reported an average 1,595 percent increase in reviews during the first year of use, alongside gains in new patient visits.

The new offering, branded as athenahealth’s Reputation Management solution, is available as an add-on within athenaOne and marks one of the company’s first named Alliance Partnerships. These partnerships are designed to provide customers with vetted third-party tools that extend platform capabilities while simplifying adoption.

“Practices using athenaOne deliver outstanding care every day, and now there’s an easy way to make sure their online presence reflects that,” said Evan Steele, founder and CEO of rater8. “This integration inside athenaOne makes it easy to capture patient feedback and manage reputation as part of existing workflows, without adding time or complexity. We’re thrilled that athenahealth recognizes rater8 as an Alliance Partner to support their clients.”

The integrated solution includes automated review and survey requests tied to patient workflows, centralized monitoring across platforms such as Google, Healthgrades, and WebMD, HIPAA-aware response tools, provider- and location-level dashboards for tracking sentiment, and listings management features designed to maintain accuracy and improve local search visibility.
