Cambridge, Mass. — Vyome Holdings said the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued a Notice of Allowance covering formulations and methods of use for VT-1908, its investigational topical treatment for inflammatory eye diseases.

The clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company is initially developing VT-1908 for anterior uveitis, with potential applications in other ocular and periocular inflammatory conditions.

VT-1908 is a topical ophthalmic formulation of mycophenolate, an established immunomodulatory drug. Vyome is developing the therapy as a potential steroid-sparing or steroid-replacement treatment.

The company said potential indications could include uveitis, post-operative ocular inflammation, scleritis, blepharitis, dry eye and other inflammatory eye conditions. Vyome estimates the broader global ocular inflammation market could exceed $20 billion by 2035.

Preclinical results for VT-1908 were published in February 2026 in the Journal of Ophthalmic Inflammation and Infection. The study found that topical mycophenolate achieved therapeutic concentrations in the eye, significantly reduced inflammation in a preclinical uveitis model and demonstrated efficacy comparable to topical steroid treatment.

“We believe this Notice of Allowance significantly strengthens the intellectual property foundation around VT-1908,” said Venkat Nelabhotla, CEO of Vyome.

He said the company sees an opportunity to develop VT-1908 as a steroid-sparing treatment across a broader range of ocular inflammatory diseases.

Shiladitya Sengupta, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Co-Founder of Vyome, said developing topical mycophenolate required overcoming significant formulation and drug-delivery challenges.

“Our published preclinical work demonstrated that topical VT-1908 can potentially achieve the desired ocular exposure and produce anti-inflammatory efficacy comparable to a steroid in the uveitis model,” Sengupta said.

Vyome said the patent allowance strengthens intellectual property protection around the program as it continues development of VT-1908 for inflammatory eye diseases.
