Littleton, Mass. — Mevion Medical Systems announced that it has signed an agreement with Acıbadem Healthcare Group to install a MEVION S250-FIT Proton Therapy System in Istanbul, establishing what the companies said will be Türkiye’s first proton therapy program in the private healthcare sector.
Acıbadem Healthcare Group operates a network of hospitals and medical centers across five countries, with 47 locations, and is affiliated with Acıbadem University. Its cancer care program includes surgical, medical, pediatric and radiation oncology services.
The MEVION S250-FIT is an ultra-compact proton therapy platform designed to fit within an existing linear accelerator vault and integrate into a radiation oncology department.
The system combines Mevion’s compact proton accelerator and HYPERSCAN pencil beam scanning technology with Leo Cancer Care’s Marie 360-degree upright patient positioning system, integrated CT imaging and RaySearch Laboratories’ RayStation treatment planning system.

Tina Yu, Ph.D., President and CEO of Mevion Medical Systems, said the installation represents an expansion of access to proton therapy in the region.

Meditel Healthcare, Mevion’s partner in Türkiye and the region, will support project execution, installation coordination and technical support for the Acıbadem program.
Founded in 1984, Meditel provides support for medical technology programs in areas including radiation oncology and imaging.
