Waltham, Mass. — Thermo Fisher Scientific has launched the Gibco CHO-K1 Catalog Panel, a portfolio of basal and feed media designed to support cell growth and protein production across CHO-K1 cell lines used in biologics and biosimilars development.
The company said the cGMP-ready panel is available in liquid and dry powder media formats and is intended to help developers evaluate media combinations, optimize processes and support scale-up and manufacturing.
The chemically defined, animal origin-free formulations include multiple basal media and feed combinations designed for a range of CHO-K1 cell lines. Thermo Fisher said the ready-to-use products can help development teams more quickly identify combinations that improve process performance.

In a 14-day fed-batch study using a CHO-K1 GS cell line, Thermo Fisher said selected panel combinations produced up to 73% higher titer than benchmark catalog media and feeds tested and up to 202% higher peak viable cell density than benchmark products. The company also reported strong product quality performance across the tested conditions.
The Gibco CHO-K1 Catalog Panel is intended for research use only and is not for use in diagnostic procedures.
