Pancreas plan comparison: OptiPlan enables side-by-side comparison of dose distributions, DVHs, and constraint results to support informed plan selection.

New York — Radformation announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted expanded 510(k) clearance for EZFluence to include OptiPlan, its automated volumetric modulated arc therapy planning module.

The clearance allows OptiPlan to be used clinically in the United States following its introduction in Europe and Canada.

OptiPlan is designed to automate repetitive treatment-planning optimization tasks while allowing clinicians to retain control over clinical decisions.

“OptiPlan was built in direct response to what we were hearing from our users. Treatment planners need ways to work more efficiently without giving up control over clinical decisions,” said Jayne Churness, Director of Product Management at Radformation. “By automating repetitive optimization work while keeping clinicians at the center of the process, OptiPlan gives planners more time to focus on the decisions where their expertise matters most.”

The software uses patient anatomy and clinical priorities defined through ClearCheck templates to generate VMAT treatment plans without requiring model training or commissioning.

Planners can compare multiple plan options side by side and adjust the balance between tumor target coverage and protection of organs at risk before selecting a treatment plan.

Radformation said OptiPlan will be demonstrated at the American Society for Radiation Oncology Annual Meeting, scheduled for Sept. 27-29 in Boston.

The company will also showcase other radiation oncology technologies at the meeting, including AI-based contouring tools, reirradiation planning features, automated plan and log-file analysis, adaptive assessment tools and automated billing quality assurance and prior authorization review.
