Hamilton Medical, Etiometry Partner on AI-Driven Respiratory Care in ICUs

Boston — Hamilton Medical, Inc. and Etiometry announced a U.S. partnership to combine advanced ventilation technology with AI-powered clinical intelligence for intensive care teams managing mechanically ventilated patients.

The collaboration will integrate Hamilton Medical’s ventilator technology and high-fidelity ventilator data with Etiometry’s Clinical Intelligence Platform to help clinicians interpret continuously generated patient data and identify clinically relevant changes.

The companies said the combined approach is intended to support more proactive respiratory management by helping care teams assess changing respiratory needs and make more timely and consistent clinical decisions.

Hamilton Medical’s ventilation technologies include Adaptive Support Ventilation, which continuously adapts ventilation to a patient’s respiratory mechanics. Etiometry’s platform integrates high-frequency ventilator data with other clinical and physiologic data in real time and applies analytics and artificial intelligence to patient trends.

“Critical care teams are surrounded by an enormous amount of data, but the real value comes from turning that data into insights they can act on,” said Shane Cooke, CEO of Etiometry. “Our partnership with Hamilton Medical brings together deep expertise in ventilation with AI-driven clinical intelligence to give care teams a more complete view of their patients, helping them review timely clinically relevant changes, support consistent use of hospital-defined protocols, and make more informed decisions.”

The collaboration will initially focus on several areas across the mechanical ventilation process, including clinician review of hospital-defined acute respiratory distress syndrome and oxygenation criteria, visualization of adherence to lung-protective ventilation targets, and standardized assessment of extubation readiness.

By combining ventilator and clinical data, the system can automatically calculate respiratory measures including P/F and S/F ratios, oxygenation index and oxygen saturation index, and display them alongside ventilator settings and other clinical information.
