BOSTON–AcuityMD said its artificial intelligence platform is now used by more than 500 medical device companies, including 16 of the world’s 20 largest firms.
Customers include Becton Dickinson, Olympus and Teleflex, according to the Boston-based company. AcuityMD said the milestone reflects growing adoption of AI by MedTech commercial teams seeking to identify sales opportunities and respond to changes in the healthcare market.
The company said its platform helped customers generate billions of dollars in potential sales pipeline opportunities during the past year. AcuityMD expects adoption to accelerate following the introduction of AcuityAI, which allows users to query market data using natural language and receive AI-generated recommendations.
Medical device companies are operating in a market shaped by physician movement, hospital consolidation, shifting reimbursement policies and the continued growth of ambulatory surgical centers. These changes can make it difficult for commercial teams to determine where procedures are being performed and which physicians or healthcare facilities represent the strongest opportunities.
AcuityMD combines information from internal and external sources to provide a continuously updated view of physicians, facilities, health systems, products, contracts and reimbursement trends. Its platform can be used to identify target markets, prioritize physicians and develop sales strategies based on healthcare market data.
The company said AcuityAI has generated thousands of call plans for customers and saves sales representatives about 180 hours of preparation time annually, equivalent to roughly one month of work.
“What makes this milestone meaningful is not the number itself, but rather the impact our customers are creating with the platform,” said Lee Smith, Co-founder and Vice President of Customer Experience at AcuityMD. “As AI becomes a bigger part of how MedTech companies operate, we are committed to enabling our customers to make smarter commercial decisions. We will continue investing in AI so our growing customer community can identify the best opportunities faster, and drive stronger results.”
AcuityMD also released a report titled “AI Adoption in MedTech Sales: 2026 Benchmarks and Trends,” which found that medical technology sales representatives who use AI were three times more likely to meet or exceed their quotas than those who did not.
According to the report, 92% of AI users said the technology saved them at least four hours each week. However, fewer than two in 10 representatives currently use AI for account research, with most relying on it for more limited tactical tasks.
