SAN FRANCISCO — Hims & Hers Health Inc. has launched access to generic semaglutide through its platform in Canada, marking the company’s first international generic GLP-1 offering.

The company said personalized treatment plans are available starting at $149 CAD per month. Hims & Hers said the Canadian launch is part of its broader international expansion strategy and is intended to improve access to lower-cost GLP-1 treatment options.

Nearly two-thirds of Canadian adults are overweight or living with obesity, according to the company, and cost has remained a major barrier to treatment. Hims & Hers said falling prices and a more dynamic GLP-1 market are creating more options for eligible patients seeking treatment that fits their lifestyle and budget.

“Bringing generic semaglutide to Canada is a meaningful milestone, but it’s also a signal of something larger: our conviction that the model we’ve built in the United States can and should serve customers around the world,” said Mike Chi, Chief Operating Officer, Hims & Hers. “There are millions of people in markets around the world who are ready for more ways to find affordable, high-quality care. Our ability to enter a new market, build a locally credible program, deliver access to first-of-its-kind medical treatment, and generate real impact at scale is what sets us apart.”

Eligible customers in Canada will have access to personalized care plans that may include generic semaglutide or branded options. The plans also include ongoing access to a care team and resources focused on nutrition, movement and sleep to support long-term weight management.

Hims & Hers said Canadian customers are treated by Canadian providers with local clinical expertise and knowledge of the country’s health care system.

“Generics have always played a critical role in expanding access to medicines that change lives,” said Dr. Sandy Van, Obesity Medicine Specialist and Chief Medical Officer, Hims & Hers Canada. “Today marks a turning point: more choice, lower costs, and a genuine commitment to care built around the whole patient. Every Canadian deserves access to the treatment that’s right for them, regardless of what they can afford.”

Generic semaglutide is authorized by Health Canada for the management of Type 2 diabetes. The company said it may be prescribed off-label for weight management at the clinical judgment of a licensed health care provider. Hims & Hers Canada Inc. does not currently offer treatment services for Type 2 diabetes.
