BOSTON — Alloy Therapeutics has appointed Alexander Titus, Ph.D., to lead its newly established Vigilance Division, a unit focused on strengthening biosecurity and accelerating the development of therapies for emerging biological threats.
The company said the division will use artificial intelligence and biotechnology to improve supply chain resilience, enhance preparedness for biological risks, and speed the creation of medical countermeasures. The initiative will also collaborate with government agencies, industry partners and global health organizations.
“Alloy is uniquely positioned to contribute to this mission because of its integrated ecosystem of discovery technologies, scientific expertise, and collaborative model,” said Titus. “By combining advanced biotechnology capabilities with next-generation software and AI tools, Alloy’s Vigilance Division will help accelerate the development of critical countermeasures while strengthening the resilience of the biotech innovation ecosystem.”
The Vigilance Division is designed to support rapid responses to emerging biological threats while reducing development timelines and costs for new therapeutics. Alloy said the unit will also focus on expanding partnerships and applying advanced AI tools to improve efficiency across drug development and biosecurity efforts.
Titus brings experience spanning government, academia and the biotechnology industry. He previously served as the first biotechnology strategy lead at the U.S. Department of Defense and most recently was Vice President of AI and Data Science at Avidity Biosciences. He has also held leadership roles at Colossal Biosciences and Google Cloud.
In addition, Titus serves as a commissioner on the U.S. National Security Commission on Emerging Biotechnology and has held academic positions at the University of Southern California and Georgetown University.
“Dr. Titus brings a rare combination of expertise in biotechnology, AI, and national security that makes him well suited to lead our Vigilance Division,” said Errik Anderson, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Alloy Therapeutics. “His leadership will be critical as we build this capability and further strengthen Alloy’s ability to respond quickly to urgent health challenges while driving innovation across our integrated ecosystem.”
Alloy said the new division reflects growing industry and government focus on biosecurity and the need for faster, more coordinated responses to biological threats.
